Los Angeles Auto Show

I went to the LA auto show over the weekend. It was really great, a lot of new cars and some old ones. This post will be a general overview, but the next few will be on some of my favorite and least favorite cars of the show. First is an old Porsche.
P1020827

Subaru Impreza Concept.
P1020812

Fiat 500. One of my favorites in the show.
P1020793

Morgan Past and Present.
P1020750

I've wanted a Jeep my entire life. I really love the 4 door one, and now that the interior is redesigned and the roof color matches...It's really tempting.
P1020770

Saleen Challenger
P1020755

An Ambulance
P1020784

The new Kia Optima looks too nice for a Kia.
P1020717

Another favorite. The Land Rover Evoque.
P1020725

Chevy Volt all plugged in.
P1020648

The most beautiful white matte paint job on an R8 GT. I typically HATE matte paint.

Look out for more to come in the next few days.

Only Revolutions by Mark Z. Danielewski

This is the second book by Mr. Danielewski (Actually 3rd, there was a companion book to House of Leaves). I've owned this book for awhile, but I've never actually read it. I don't know why, but when I do I feel like I am reading Finnegans Wake. It's almost too much, but I love how the book is made.
P1020326
Like the previous book, a ton of attention is paid to the details and colors. So reading the book physically as much of an adventure as the story is.
P1020329
The book provides two bookmarks, and at first glance it appears that the text is written upside down.
P1020327
But when you look at it closer, it's actually written correctly on the top, and upside down on the bottom.
P1020331
That's because the book is written from two different perspectives and you can start at either side of the book. The publisher recommends changing perspectives every 8 pages.
P1020328
Someday I'll figure it all out.

House of Leaves: a novel

House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski is my favorite book. I don't really want to say what the book is about, because I think you should discover it on your own, but it's essentially about a house that is bigger on the inside than on the outside.
P1020313
P1020315
What I would like to show is how the book is designed. I have a fairly rare copy that is in full color with images. There are 4 editions of the book going from no color and no images all the way up to full color with images. If you can get the full color one, I recommend it.
P1020316
House is always printed in blue.
P1020317
The book is about the aforementioned house that is bigger on the inside, The house also contains a labyrinth. So the book printed as though you are reading through a maze, sometimes not sure where to read next.
P1020322
Sometimes reading only a few words on a page.
P1020320
P1020321
Sometimes you have to do a little problem solving to continue reading.
P1020319
The book also contains tons of drawings and photographs to really ad to the world.
P1020324
P1020323
I highly recommend this book.
